Prof. Dr.-Ing. Olaf Selle

Publicly appointed independent counsel of Saxon´s board of engineers
Prof. Olaf Selle graduated from the former Leipzig Technical University as a civil engineer in 1972. After working on various research projects, he started working for the Institut für Ingenieur- und Tiefbau Leipzig of the Bauakademie of the former GDR. Moving up step by step in this test and research house, he eventually in 1989 became the director, guarding about 400 employees at that time.
In 1979 Prof. Olaf Selle received his PhD for his thesis in the field of structural performance for buried pipes. His thesis became the basis for the standards for calculating and installing buried sewer pipes in the former GDR.
In 1992 he became the director of the MFPA Leipzig, a test house being the successor of the institute he managed before. Under his guidance, the MFPA Leipzig made its way to be one of the leading test houses in the field of civil engineering. In 2001 he then temporarily left Leipzig.
From 2001 to 2012 Prof. Olaf Selle was engaged at the IMA Dresden, developing the pipe testing department to be one of the major German test facilities for pressure water systems. In 2005 he additionally returned to Leipzig and became the head of the geotechnical department.
In 1992 Prof. Olaf Selle started lecturing at former Leipzig Technical University (today: HTWK Leipzig) as well as at the Technical University in Cottbus. Starting in 1995 he continuously worked as a teacher at the Leipzig University and became a regular professor in 2002, covering the field of technical infrastructure as well as water and sewer systems.
In 1997 he was announced an expert for the Deutsches Institut für Bautechnik (DIBt) in the field of rainwater and sewer systems.
In 2002 he was announced a publicly appointed independent counsel for geotechnical engineering, especially for buried pipes. Furthermore Prof. Olaf Selle is an expert for the Eisenbahn-Bundesamt for plastic pipes and manholes since 2011.
In 2001 he founded a private firm for expert expertise, this today is Selle Consult.
Prof. Olaf Selle is married, father of 3 sons and grand-father of 7 grand-children.
